Quote for the Day

“I know that you can do all things, no plan of yours can be thwarted.”

Today's Prayer

This week pray that those who are traveling seek God and God alone. Ask God to be alive to them as they are seeking His face. Remember those at home and ask God to be alive and powerful in their lives as they miss those traveling.

Job 42:1-6

Job 42:1-6 (NIV)1 Then Job replied to the LORD :2 “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.6 Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

Message

So how would you respond to God after getting the answer Job did? From riches to ruin, pain, and suffering; cast out of all social standing; no one, including your spouse, to support and encourage you; and God says it is all because He alone is in control and He alone is righteous. Yes, Job knows it is the right answer because he is fully aware of God and His whole character. He is also aware of what life would be like if God was NOT in control. Unlike his friends who preached a gospel NOT from God, Job knows that God is in control of all, whether we like what we see or not. Job knows that God being in control is the best thing possible. So how does Job react? His reaction is one of humble respect and thankfulness. Job knows God so he knows the answer is right, and he knows he needs to take his proper place. Job is a child loved by God, and he has received the grace, love, and strength God has given, but he also is a servant of the one true God. Job is a man who knows his place before the Creator. Job is a man who has the ability to humbly accept that God alone is in control. Job’s response is one of repentance and awe. What is your response? Job is a man who knows God like no other man and has just accepted another lesson from Him in humility and self-control. This week, see what God has for you to understand about His character and His relationship with you.
