Quote for the Day
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful…”
Today's Prayer
This week, read God’s Word and let His Spirit direct you in praying.
2nd Timothy 3:10-17
2nd Timothy 3:10-17 (NIV)10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Message
We find two very powerful applications in these eight short verses. First is one that is carried throughout Scripture and summarized powerfully here in verses 16 and 17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” So much theology in so few words. The basics of why we are to be in God’s word are all right here:It is GOD-BREATHED.It is for training in righteousness. It is to equip us for EVERY good work. What more do we want? No wonder it is called the bread of life. All we need to feed on and grow is in Scripture. The more we are focused on the Word of God, the more we become lovers of God. God’s Word is straight to the point and powerful. This week take some extra time in God’s word and see how much more you will love Him. Next week, we will look at the other powerful application in these verses.
