Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” As we move from theology to application, I wanted to make a very short reminder of what faith is. Though we have spent several weeks looking at the theology of faith and our salvation, and we are about to see many “ancients” called out who show us practical applications of faith, I thought it important to have a short definition of faith prior to moving forward.I have had a handwritten note in my Bible for many years next to verse one above: “Faith is putting your undivided confidence in God, and then acting on it.” Recently after a study of Ephesians as well as some time with a trusted mentor, I have edited my handwritten note to read as follows: “Faith is putting your undivided confidence in God, and then resting in Him.” I trust you will see as we look closer at these men and women of faith in the weeks to come that the object of their faith was God alone, and they held NO confidence in the flesh. They simply rested in the will of the Father.I look forward to this journey together through the “hall of faith.”
